The Story of K.O. Pizza

Kelly and Oliver met in 2013 at a New York pizza joint unlike any other. Old rock and roll albums made up the table-tops, and the Foo-Fighters would play a show on a moment's notice. The owners were retired New Yorkers from the rock and roll industry- with a crazed passion for making classic New York Pies. They took Kelly and Oliver under their wings, teaching them the ins and outs of making truly great 20 inch pies and passing down their passion along the way.

In 2016, the now-couple decided to move back home to be closer to family, and returned to North Kohala, Hawai’i. On their Friday date nights, they would seek out every pizza establishment they could on the island, in search for their beloved crispy, thin crust pizza dripping with cheese.

It became apparent that the Big Island was missing out on classic New York style pies, and an idea was born; they would start a mobile pizza business. At first it was just one small oven on a old, rusty off-road trailer. They soon realized this was NOT going to be enough. The couple took a gamble on everything, and began building their dream.

In 2022, Kelly and Oliver came home every day from their 50 hour/week jobs and would work deep into the early morning hours constructing their dream food truck. Oliver’s 7 years of experience in the commercial kitchen building industry, and Kelly’s 19 years in food service complimented the project perfectly.

K.O. Pizza is now a reality, and we are happy to share our authentic NY Pizza with all of West Hawai’i!

Kelly and Oliver hit it off. Both were born and raised here in Hawai’i, both loved animals, and both loved being covered in flour; rolling out pizza dough for 8 hours straight.
